I am a Yoga Alliance registered 200 hour certified yoga instructor. I completed my yoga teaching training through Lifetime Fitness in Beachwood, Ohio after years of practicing yoga at studios all around Cleveland and in Michigan with Jonny Kest. My classes are designed and structured in the traditional Hatha yoga, which integrates and incorporates the mental, spiritual, and physical teachings of yoga.
I am also a certified and licensed occupational therapy assistant (COTA/L). I graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1999 and have practiced occupational therapy on everyone from children to seniors. My current practice is focused on rehabilitating adults and seniors. I live in Olmsted Falls with my two children.
I offer individual and group sessions and I have all the necessary equipment to enhance your experience.
I had been a group fitness instructor for twenty years when first introduced to yoga. Challenging and humbling are the words that come to mind for this experience. Thankfully, it was also exhilarating and rewarding to keep me coming back for more. Yoga was the missing component in my fitness routine as well as in my life in general. Having permission to "rest" in class (and, subsequently, in life) was life-altering to say the least. Yoga has opened up not only my overly-tight hips, buy my awareness of the connection between mind, body and spirit as well. Once tapped into this, there was no turning back!
Earning my teaching certification through YogaFit has allowed me to share my passion for Vinyasa yoga as an instructor. With the breath as our foundation, I lead an energetic, compassionate, well-balanced and paced series of asana poses and then let grace-filled yoga do the rest! I am blessed with a wonderful husband and two children. Our son is in the Army and our daughter attends BGSU. Born in Wisconsin, I grew up in Colorado and have lived in Arizona, Utah, Virginia and Germany. Shortly after moving to Olmsted Falls, I was fortunate to tap into the yoga community here and I knew I was home!

In addition, she is certified through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) as both a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. She has been teaching group fitness classes for over 23 years. Melissa is a 31 year old local instructor from North Olmsted. She completed her yoga teacher training at Puma Yoga in Lakewood in 2016. She is also an Occupational Therapy Assistant for local nursing facilities. She first got into yoga as a good balance to her love of running. After taking yoga classes for 8 years and falling in love with the practice, she decided to take the training to deepen her practice and spiritual level. She plans to expand in her yoga career with taking on more classes after she completes the Boston Marathon in April 2017.
As a wife, a mother of two sons, and a career manager for a large organization Serra had very little time for herself. Over time her busy lifestyle created serious problems with both her physical and mental health. That was until she found yoga three years ago and it changed her life forever. So much so that in September of 2015 she enrolled in the RYT 200 Teacher Training Program. After completing the program she began her journey of helping others find the tools to improve their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. It is her mission as a yoga teacher to create a nurturing environment that will encourage others to explore their authentic self and find the peace within.
Born and raised in Fairview Park, I was first exposed to yoga in my high school gym class. I dabbled on and off throughout college but more seriously began my practice in 2012. In October of 2014 I traveled to Bali, Indonesia to complete a 200 hour teacher training with Alicia Cheung and Oliver Reinsch of YogaWorks. While in Bali I also decided to complete a 100 hour Yin Yoga training with the same teachers. Yoga has allowed me to get to know myself on a much deeper level than I ever thought possible, and I am extremely excited to be sharing this wonderful gift of yoga to others. During my classes I try to lead my students through a practice that connects their body, mind and soul. I aim to have you feeling lighter and brighter after every class, offering modifications for all skill levels and all body types regardless of class style. I want my students to feel empowered to take their practice off the mat and live a more balanced life.
